Little Miss Do it All...Done it!

Last night Laura decided to ride around on her horse bareback (with Chief in tow) while they ate grass in the yard...Chiefs lead rope somehow got wrapped around J.D.'s back leg and spooked him. You can guess what happened next...Yep, Laura was pitched off her horse landing firmly on her back. She seems to have avoided injury .... but is sore as she thumped the ground pretty good. Never a dull moment.

Easter at home

Carter figured out how to hunt eggs when we got to our house Sunday afternoon. He was much more successful!

Easter 2011

We spent Holy Saturday in Old Monroe with family. Mary Kay and Becky and their families were also there most of the day just hanging out and having a good time. After everyone arrived, we had an Easter egg hunt. Laura tried to get Carter to hunt eggs, but he didn't want to have much to do with it. He was carrying around three "big trucks," so it was a little hard to also pick up eggs. We also celebrated Emily's 9th birthday.

Track Meet in Bloomfield

Laura had a track meet in Bloomfield on Thursday, April 21. You can easily see it was very cold! She placed 4th in the 1500m and 400m. Her team placed 3rd in the 4x800. Yeah, Laura!

Horses and Toy Trucks

HORSEE! It was 80 degrees Sunday so we took a long ride after Laura's recital. As evidenced by the photo..... Carter had to bring a truck with him.

The Pianist

Laura performed at two recitals this past weekend. First at a local church on Sat. night and then again Sunday afternoon at Truman State University's Young Musicians Invitational -Included are a couple of videos from the TSU event.

Chocolate Made Carter's Day!

Chocolate had another littler of kittens, so Carter is enjoying every minute of it. He begs to get in the boat to play with them, and then it is hard to get him out. Chocolate just lays there and watches, because she knows Carter is very gentle while handling them and won't hurt them:) As always, his last stop in the garage is the 4-wheeler. Life is good on the farm!

First Track Meet of 2011

Laura's first track meet of the season was Wed., April 6. We were very proud of her, she made great accomplishments since last season. At first she had a little trouble getting her sweats over her shoes, but she managed to get them off and run with style! She was 5th in the 1600 m run (that's 4 times around the track) and 3rd in the 4x400 m relay. Go, Laura!!!

Laura's Service Project

Laura's 8th grade PSR class worked with the 1st grade PSR class to make "prayer blankets." Then they donated these blankets to a local shelter. She is working with Megan Pike, the daughter of a woman I grew up with in Old Monroe who's name was Becky Eggering. Isn't it a small world?

Carter's Having Fun

It's amazing how much time a little boy can spend on a small dirt pile with a feed scoop and a "big truck!"
