After opening with straight wins over higher seeded teams, Laura and her doubles partner lost a disappointing semi-final match in the Suburban North Doubles Tourney.  Later in the week, Laura rebounded in singles with the only team win against Platte County (North KC town out by KCI Airport).   The girl she beat from Platte was the same player who had dealt her a loss earlier in the season.  Ref: KC Newspaper box score below.

Saturday

Carter had a good time Saturday.  He played in his room with toy race cars in the morning and then went to I-35 speedway to watch real ones that night.  As the cars roared by we were re-assured that he can  sit still when conditions are right.

Labor Day Weekend

Laura, Carter, and I spent the weekend in Old Monroe.  Uncle Wilfred was in town so we gathered at Aunt Catherine's house on Sunday to celebrate Aunt Catherine's birthday and visit with family.  While we were there, Diane had a shower for Susan because she has now adopted 2 of Aunt Helen's foster babies.  She has Kyla-6 and Phoebe-almost 2.  Unfortunately no pics of Laura because she was upstairs playing Monopoly as usual.  Carter had a great time because there were lots of kids to play with:)
