Trick or Treat!

I had originally planned on Carter being a cow for Halloween.  I had this cute costume for him to wear, but he insisted it was too big and would never try it on.  So last night he said he wanted to be Batman.  Fortunately he had a Batman shirt and cape in his drawer and chose to wear it "to Halloween."  He had a party at school and went trick or treating down the hallways of the junior high.  Then after supper we went to the football game to see Dad and did a little trick or treating there.  Kearney is playing football in the district tournament this evening.  Then we finished our evening in Jacob's neighborhood.  He is finally at home playing with trucks, his favorite thing to do!!

Carter and Laura have now both found their way into the KC paper - I guess its pretty lucky on our part...especially since we have only being in the community a few months.

New Outdoor Furniture

Being the Craigslist people we are, I found some teak wood furniture for sale and sent Mike after it.  He brought it home looking in pretty sad shape.  Of course it didn't take him long to sand and oil the wood, and repaint the metal to make beautiful furniture for our front porch.  I tried to get Carter to show off his pumpkins with the furniture, but as you can see he wasn't much for smiling.

Pumpkin Patch

Becky and I took the boys to the pumpkin patch today to pick some pumpkins.  Of course, Carter picked one just his size.  They had fun in the tunnel, playing on the hay bales, and getting a hay ride.  It is great to have the Burkempers close!

Tennis Banquet

Laura had her tennis banquet Tuesday evening.  She now has varsity lettered in 2 high schools-Kirksville and Kearney.  We think that is quite an accomplishment for our little sophomore.  Unlike when we were in Kirksville last year at this time, we think we might stay in Kearney until she graduates so we are off to buy a letter jacket on Friday.  It was a wonderful way to end tennis season in Kearney.

Kearney's Fall Activities

The city of Kearney sponsored a children's fall festival with jump houses, rides, and many other activities.  As Carter was spending his half hour with the tubs of sand, rice, noodles, and beans, a photographer from the Kearney Courier took this picture of him.  He was really enjoying himself!

Puppy Pound's Open House

Carter started attending preschool when school started this year.  His preschool is called the Puppy Pound.  They had their Open House this evening, so Carter showed me around his school, and we also were able to take a picture with his teacher, Miss Erin.  Carter loves the Puppy Pound, they have lots of big trucks!!!
